Her selfless love

Image
I was so engulfed in my thoughts but I had to take a break to do this. This is a special dedication to someone special ... What’s in a name that makes a person so unique as you. You are: Caring Honest Respectful Inspiring Serving Trustworthy Intelligent Nurturer Ever so loyal These are only a few words I can use to describe my eldest sister. Before I became the Claudia you knew, I had to watch her to develop some human qualities. There’s a saying in my Ghanaian dialect that literally translates as he/she is not human. That was me in my teens. I did not give a hoot about anyone, I didn’t even give a cow about myself. Thinking back to then, I was a very strange person. I had to observe my sister and learn some human traits from her to get to where I am now. Her selflessness is to be admired. She is so hardworking and doesn’t know how to stop. She reminds me of Cinderella, only her character and humanity make up the glittery ball gown that adorns her. Today, big sis when

🌏 Travel Feature: My 3-day city break in Oslo 🇳🇴

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes Day 1:  Oslo, Norway 🇳🇴 Welcome to an IntraOrdinary Travel post! I initially planned to do this as a combination of video and written blog but as usual, I got lazy. And when I’m lazy, boy do I procrastinate! .... I arrived in Oslo, Norway yesterday via a Wizz Air flight from London Luton airport. It was a rather peaceful wait till boarding, I even had the chance to browse for unnecessary things to buy and sit down to eat breakfast at Frankie and Bennys. The events of that morning and indeed the previous day seemed like a distant memory. Because on the morning of the flight, I missed my coach and had to get the next one which left me with 1 hour 45 till the plane left. I went through security; which was unusually empty and made it out within 10 minutes. So I had a good 1 hour and 25 minutes to just browse. I ended up getting a new power bank because my phone charger had been playing up and then walked around some more, deciding if I wanted a ta

Usually when we talk about family, we easily visit all the fun memories. That is good because it tells a lot about the human race (It always wants the good stuff). But if we are to revisit the truth in all or most of the good memories, we will be careful to notice all the difficult sacrifices which were made in order to get us to the place of our sweet memories. The memory of our favourite treats, that favorite food or favorite dress, that new phone or car, the all expense paid trip or even the school fees which were paid to get you to your place in life. The unfortunate part of our human nature easily forgets these little yet huge sacrifices. Maybe the very few of us remember too well all that was "given up" to be given to us. Remember when you were young and all you had to do was to ask and you received?; well, if your parents told you they had to forgo the expensive bottle of wine on their anniversary or had to fast (eating only once a day) for a month or more

My ‘To-Be’ list

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” ‭           Isaiah‬ ‭43:19‬ ‭NLT‬‬ * * * * * * * * * * *                                * * * * * * * * * * *                                * * * * * * * * * * * Today is the 21st of August 2019... my birthday which means I have plenty to celebrate about especially on this day. A while ago, probably 7 to 8 year ago, I wrote a 5 and a 10 year plan. As I think back to the years gone past, I remember how many things I wished to accomplish by the time I was probably 30. I had a 5 year plan and a 10 year plan with a list which included: Doing a Master’s degree, getting my first job in development then working my way up to getting my dream job, owning a car 4 years after my first employment, have a good amount of money in the bank to buy a house; according to my 10 year plan.

🌏 Travel Feature: Solo Travel, 5 reasons why you haven’t done it... yet.

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes Solo travel does not need a dictionary definition, it is simply what it looks to mean. Solo - by oneself; Travel - going on a journey. Therefore, solo travel is simply, going on a journey by oneself. And these days, it has become so popular. No longer are people feeling scared to travel through countries or a continent (even sometimes around the world) by themselves, they are embracing exploring the world alone. I have been on a few solo trips myself; mostly to European countries but I want to do more outside of the European zone. Watch out for a post My travel bucket list in the near future. Why Solo Travel? I’m a solo traveller by nature and by opportunity. By nature because I am an introvert so I usually want to have time alone to myself. By opportunity because I have more time on my hands than most. The opportunity factor wasn’t always the case, I had to make a conscious decision to travel occasionally and took advantage of such times when I

Spoken Word: The Case for Christ

Image
Our Father in Heaven Our Lord, Our Master Our Healer, Our king Our Deliverer Our Brother Hallowed be thine Name 🙌 He who bore our sins and our inquities In shame, in pain In the anger of many, and yet remained... Silent. Our Teacher, Our Counsellor Our Comforter Thank you for revealing us His truth Although He carried upon Himself, our many sorrows Cried out to Heaven in deep anguish In silence, but visible through His blood, sweat and tears You were there. But you allowed it all to happen So that the ancient records; probably torn, lost or even forgotten by now... Will be accomplished Images of His sufferings, flesh-stripping lashes and mockings Play in my mind, The vivid but clear shaky images of an old film strip 🎞 So that the words on this gadget I hold in my hand Might bear witness To this case - The case for Christ The glorified prophet Though always mopped by crowds of crowds Now stands alone,  In fro

Relate-tion-ship

#Relationshipgoals has become one of the most popular hashtags on social media. With beautiful images of ‘couples’ posed, styled alike, gazing into each other’s eyes or an image with the female resting on her lover’s bosom. Sometimes it’s an image of the couple standing in front of a backdrop of natural scenery or some famous monument in France or Italy. It seems that the world is obsessed with the romantic kind of love. But that’s not the only type of relationship goals that matters these days, there’s also #familygoals #bromance #friendshipgoals #squadgoals and  - did I miss anything? Well if there is, that’s all I can remember for now. But what about the other relationships which don’t have any goals attached to them. I say this with an image of the work colleague who is known to be the nice one who doesn’t get invited to lunch with the rest of the crew. That person is too diligent in his/her role and is too busy doing the job well that we can’t relate with them. But when we ne

Unfinished.

What causes a painting to be left  unfinished ? Did the artist run out of inspiration? Did their commission money dry up? Did they get bored, frustrated, or disenchanted? Did the artist or their subject die before completion? Behind every picture lies a story, and that is especially true of incomplete works These are not my words. The website I borrowed the image of a painting (above) and the quotation which follows are referenced below. I have benefitted from an education so I have acknowledged the source by referencing in Harvard style...Kudos to Canterbury Christ Church University, Reading University and most recently St Mary’s University for producing (and polishing) such a fine graduate. More recently my thoughts have been drawn to the many ideas of projects, businesses I have had, and even work experiences that failed to cease when I had the opportunity to. Sometimes I even ventured to start implementing those ideas. Today, they mostly lay dormant on a website, in a note

Potential

14/01/2019 It's the night before the day which marks the start of a new term for me and I am getting ready for it. (Those of you who know what I do now will understand why I used the word 'term' and how it relates to me getting ready in the first place). As I pack my books, pens, pencils, highlighters and random sheets of paper, I remember that I often forget to pack something relaxing for the journey to work.  Ever since the end of last term, I decided that I needed to include into my day something that takes my mind of the routine of planning, preparation and evaluation and the periods of stress in-between these stages.  I had been planning to read a storybook (fact or fiction) or a motivational book outside of academic books and textbooks since the winter break and always seemed to forget to pack one. But this time I was determined. As I rummaged through the books beside my bed, I found a book by Myles Munroe which I have been reading for a while now. I
