#Relationshipgoals #family

Usually when we talk about family, we easily visit all the fun memories. That is good because it tells a lot about the human race (It always wants the good stuff).

But if we are to revisit the truth in all or most of the good memories, we will be careful to notice all the difficult sacrifices which were made in order to get us to the place of our sweet memories.
The memory of our favourite treats, that favorite food or favorite dress, that new phone or car, the all expense paid trip or even the school fees which were paid to get you to your place in life.

The unfortunate part of our human nature easily forgets these little yet huge sacrifices. Maybe the very few of us remember too well all that was "given up" to be given to us.

Remember when you were young and all you had to do was to ask and you received?; well, if your parents told you they had to forgo the expensive bottle of wine on their anniversary or had to fast (eating only once a day) for a month or more just so they would be able to raise the funds for your new iphone, etc., would you have felt sorry for them or appreciated the gift a lot more?
My point is, our family members go through a lot for our sake.

For the question of character, all you need to know is that no matter how bad a family member is, that is your blood and believe it or not, God knew you will be a better person with them in your life; that is why you are family.

Personally, I am grateful for the " all hands in" family i was "comissioned to" by the Almighty.
A father who loves his child so much that in a heart beat will leave his busy day at the office and drive an almost 2 or more hours journey to pick up his child to the hospital, or a mother who will give up her pride as a career woman to take care of her kids as a house wife, or siblings who will give up their last dime for your education or even to see your business launch.
As for the many family gatherings (from all sides of the family); be it Christmas, birthdays, funerals, weddings, extended family parties, etc.; well, that is all just a plus.

I know people get unbothered when it's father's day, because the assumption is that most fathers are not honoring their responsibility.
However, I'm the first to jump in defence because I have many accounts of men in my life who deserve to be celebrated; so much that their lives are a benchmark to mine. How I always pray to God to never sway away because when you see them in action, it's sometimes too good to be true (especially for the husbands of my sisters). But that is the truth; there are good men out there!

My advise to those who claim they never had good parents is that "If you never had it good, make it your business to be good" and extend that goodness to them who did you wrong, because you will be amazed at the outcome. I cannot snap my fingers to receive a perfect world, but I can pray for God's perfect world in all of us.
