Facing my regrets

Disclaimer: In this post, I get very personal. You might find that you'll need a pack of tissues. *** In writing this blog post, I have had to steal away this period of time to do something I did not plan to do. Out of the 10 things on my to-do list for today (yes, truthfully) writing a blog post is not on there. But I am feeling inspired and inspiration has not passed my way for a very long time. Many of you do not know but I am currently out of employment due to reasons I may share in the near future. But the past 3 weeks or so have been tough. I have been applying for jobs with no response. 95% of the time, no confirmation email comes through to show they have received my application. I have been worrying and panicking wondering if I would get a job before my finances run dry. Before you begin to ask questions on why I hadn't waited till I had a job before leaving my previous job...I did. But I resigned from that job only a few days into it because I realised I was overqual...

Be neighbourly

I need to stop feeling guilty for taking the time out to write this blog post, after all I told myself yesterday that I would spend some time on my blog today! So here it is... Today I want to talk about being neighbourly...not to the people you live in close proximity to, but to everyone you might have encountered in your life, or at least those alive and present in your life at the moment. At the start of the pandemic, I quite remember a segment of the news which showed neighbours sitting outside their homes in their front yards having a conversation with a mug of tea/coffee in their hands. The news reporter said something like .... ' During these difficult times, neighbours have realised they need each other to get through these difficult times' . Today, I would argue that scene will look very different across various parts of the UK, at least in the major cities like London. I worry that people will go back to meeting up with friends, going shopping and will forget about th...

The Truth about Goal-setting

Image
Before I continue typing and I loose my train of thought, HAPPY NEW YEAR! The 2020 we worried through is now just a (short) distant memory. We begin a new 2021 with some expectations and hopes of a good year. To be honest, I was not going to write a post about goal-setting since I don't really have any hard goals. I.e the ones written on paper. But I had a thought which I thought is worth sharing so here it goes. I ended the last year in silence, a lot going on but nothing much to say to the world. My silence lead to me deleting Whatsapp and staying off social media. To be honest, I am doing fine without and with little of it but that's just me.  But hey, let's talk about goal-setting.  As the quote above says, no it's not about the goals, it's about being consistent with them. Life after all is a journey as they say. So why stop trying. Let me illustrate with an example, one of the goals I literally just thought about working on is Consistency. My lack of consisten...

Poem by Joshua A. (Giveaway Winner)

Congratulations to Joshua A. winner of the first prize for the 5th Anniversary Giveaway. He wrote a stunning romantic poem which he is dedicating to his future wife. She is one beyond blessed woman. This poem reads like wedding wows. She will be blushing more every person who reads this. Congratulations, Bravo, Excellent and Thank you Joshua A. for participating in our giveaway. I hope you will be writing more. We look forward to reading more of your work 👏🙌🤝 Loving You. Oh to love and be loved, this has been the desire of every heart cry and would I be any different? I sit here pondering on how far we have come together. Do you remember the day we met and how foolishly my words failed me? Do you remember these words 'I will spend my all proving that I love you'. Dear you see loving you, was beyond my control, abilities and imagination. It was beyond my comprehension and capabilities, trying to define what loving you means may seem impossible, but dear take a seat and allow ...

Poem: A Vision of Paradise Waterfall

Image
A quick word about this poem. I started writing this poem in July. My school had organised a 'Literacy Festival week' to promote creativity, poetry, formal and creative writing. It was for the students obviously but teachers were encouraged to take part. I told part in one of the challenges (see image below) and ended the day with just the first verse you see (minus the bit about 'this is a message for you'), the second verse and the final verse. I promised to finish it in the same week but obviously it didn't materialise.  As I was randomly scrolling through my uncompleted posts, I clicked on this post. I read what I had written already and the rest of the words came to me just like that. So here it is, on the 20th of August finally completed. Enjoy ! *** Ombre Hues High places Normality Take it all in Blue is for your royalty This is a message for you Nothing I wake up from the nothingness of a dream To see the pale colours of white, grey and dull around me My vi...

My To-Be List for age 30 and beyond

Image
My birthday is coming up soon. And for me I often see birthdays as an opportunity to reflect, review and set some new goals. Basically birthdays are like my version of New Year's resolutions.  Very soon (next year) I will be turning the big 30, And I still have a lot of things I want to accomplish, to tighten up and to break down ... especially insecurities. As you read my list, you'll notice that these are mostly mental habits or personal behaviours as opposed to physical habits. I was going to make a list of 30 things but I realised that would take too much time to read and would even take too much time to write in the first place. Here are a list of 10 things I would like to apply in my life on a daily basis (or as frequently as possible) by age 30 and beyond. 1. Read . I am a very slow reader. I mean 🐌 kind of slow. This makes me not enjoy reading so much. In fact, I think I can only usually manage reading for 20 minutes, afterwards I lose interest and switch on YouTube. S...
