Relate-tion-ship

Image
#Relationshipgoals has become one of the most popular hashtags on social media. With beautiful images of ‘couples’ posed, styled alike, gazing into each other’s eyes or an image with the female resting on her lover’s bosom. Sometimes it’s an image of the couple standing in front of a backdrop of natural scenery or some famous monument in France or Italy. It seems that the world is obsessed with the romantic kind of love. But that’s not the only type of relationship goals that matters these days, there’s also #familygoals #bromance #friendshipgoals #squadgoals and  - did I miss anything? Well if there is, that’s all I can remember for now. But what about the other relationships which don’t have any goals attached to them. I say this with an image of the work colleague who is known to be the nice one who doesn’t get invited to lunch with the rest of the crew. That person is too diligent in his/her role and is too busy doing the job well that we can’t relate with them. But when w...

Unfinished.

What causes a painting to be left  unfinished ? Did the artist run out of inspiration? Did their commission money dry up? Did they get bored, frustrated, or disenchanted? Did the artist or their subject die before completion? Behind every picture lies a story, and that is especially true of incomplete works These are not my words. The website I borrowed the image of a painting (above) and the quotation which follows are referenced below. I have benefitted from an education so I have acknowledged the source by referencing in Harvard style...Kudos to Canterbury Christ Church University, Reading University and most recently St Mary’s University for producing (and polishing) such a fine graduate. More recently my thoughts have been drawn to the many ideas of projects, businesses I have had, and even work experiences that failed to cease when I had the opportunity to. Sometimes I even ventured to start implementing those ideas. Today, they mostly lay dormant on a website, in a ...

Potential

14/01/2019 It's the night before the day which marks the start of a new term for me and I am getting ready for it. (Those of you who know what I do now will understand why I used the word 'term' and how it relates to me getting ready in the first place). As I pack my books, pens, pencils, highlighters and random sheets of paper, I remember that I often forget to pack something relaxing for the journey to work.  Ever since the end of last term, I decided that I needed to include into my day something that takes my mind of the routine of planning, preparation and evaluation and the periods of stress in-between these stages.  I had been planning to read a storybook (fact or fiction) or a motivational book outside of academic books and textbooks since the winter break and always seemed to forget to pack one. But this time I was determined. As I rummaged through the books beside my bed, I found a book by Myles Munroe which I have been reading for a while now. I ...

Chapter 27 - Inner Circle

Inner circle  Noun A small, intimate, and often influential group of people. Sourced from Dictionary.com I celebrated my birthday lately. My 27th birthday - and as most people tend to do at the turn of a new year or season in life, I took to reflecting. Reflecting is a normal part of me, as my personality (introvert) and sometimes I feel my genetic make-up allows me to. As I pondered over many aspects of life in general and of my life over the past days, I realised that I have not experienced the beauty of togetherness to a certain extent. In specific detail, in my twenty-seven years of life, I have never been to a baby shower, a bridal shower, a hen-night, a friend’s wedding and don’t even mention a slumber party. No. Nada. Never in my lifetime. But the reason for this is simple, I don’t have many (actually, any) close friends.  And this thought occurred to me almost at the end of the day of my birthday. Which was a great day where I was reminded of how muc...

Make me proud

So I began this post awhile ago - September 2016 to be precise ... 🤫 shhh I know what you’re thinking ... but I have always sought for an opportunity to finish it ... and Inspiration finally came. This post is dedicated to new Graduates 🎓. It was inspired by a special lady, Miss Fams. Because of your great achievement, I have finally been able to revise and finish this. You fought hard and finished hard! Congratulations, Missy (not her real name) * * * * * * * * * * * Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin .. Zechariah 4:10 NLT “Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be.” Job 8:7 NIV Have you ever stared at a picture and then tears suddenly well up in your eyes or tears begin to run down your cheeks and at the same time, you wear a huge smile on your face. That ...

What are my plans for the year?

Hello Intraordinary Family! Happy New Year! I say this both as a greeting and a declaration that at the end of this year, we will conclude that it has been one that has brought us happiness. 2018 started with a lot of anticipation of good things to come for some of us; some of us may also have felt a bit indifferent before and after the stroke of midnight. Feeling non-chalant peharps with a slight bit of hope that all things work well for our good. To be honest, I am of the former thought and of the latter thought. I am totally in expectation of great things but I am also somehow indifferent because I feel that these great things happening depend on my thoughts, decisions, confessions, actions and attitudes...and to be honest, I don’t have these on lock. Over the years, I have also not always taken the right decisions. So today someone asked me, “What are your plans for the year?” To which I responded  “I don’t have plans, I have goals” You know why, because I...

Finish It!

The end of something is better than its beginning. It is better to be patient than arrogant. Ecclesiastes 7:8 (The Bible) When it first began...you had the buttterflies . The nervous excitement from the good news you received or the new chapter you had begun. You simply couldn't suppress the joy and excitement you felt and you wanted the feeling to last forever. But as time went on, the fire in your heart begun to grow cold; you lost the joy, passion and the zeal to keep it going. We have all been there...experienced the great  feeling of a fresh start to something new. You begin a new job, a new relationship, a new friendship, get a new idea, a new school or college, you are newly wed. They call it the honeymoon phase and it's the time when everything feels good and just perfect. But over time, life gets difficult, obstacles come our way and takes away the joy and excitement we once felt. We  have all experienced it. As time goes on, the job is lost, the relationship ends...
