Poem/Spoken Word - Love is ... defined

Why does my heart heat up in anger like oil, and burn like paper. When I see love misunderstood and misrepresented. Love, like time ; runs away in a moment. A rare opportunity to encounter it's perfect purity. This time will be the most important and defining moment of your life Love is an Outstretched arm - Grab it when you can, Then run with it I opened up my arms to you but you didn't notice Hold on to it. See how you let love... like time go by. Listen, it's the thing that passes and fortunately comes back. Yes, it's generous enough to give you it's abundance. That for you could be a second chance. Only this time, don't think too hard about it Catch up with the time You let love slip away. Walk side by side as you listen to understand it. Then you will realise that you never knew it, the world told you lies about it, Rinsed out it's name and abused it's meaning. But you see it now, You don't quite understand it, But you are learning It speaks w...

The Best Resolution Checklist

Image
As I type this post, I have a playlist of Christmas hymns and carols playing in the background. A reminder that it is the 'most wonderful time of the year'. A period when families in almost all parts of the world come together to eat, laugh, eat some more and rest. I personally don't enjoy Christmas day because I find it rather dry and boring. So to entertain myself with some healthy conversation, I'll be hosting a Facebook and Instagram Live. It's going to be a drop-in and let's talk kind of live so you won't have to listen to me all the time. You can join the live, send me a wave and I'll invite you unto the live 😃 I'll be hosting the same on Instagram on Sunday, Boxing Day so do join me if you are not a Facebook user or have some availability on that day instead. So ... This is going to be the final blog of 2021. I will be making a simple post for Intraordinary Life's YouTube channel to accompany this. Anyway, let's get this blog post s...

Things I wish I knew about building a (successful) career

Image
You may have already read my blog post on  making careful decisions . This post is another in our series related to career and goal setting, and I hope you are able to relate to some of my reflections. Please do well to share with your younger siblings and loved ones. I believe it could save some a lot of time, effort and hopefully from regretful decisions. I am sure a number of people regret some of the decisions they have made regarding their career choice(s). But personally speaking, I definitely  regret my earlier decisions. I founded a whole project set out to encourage people in their career and life journeys because of this. Check it out on  YouTube So here are 7 pieces of advice I have picked up along the journey. If I had the chance to turn back time, I would be following this advice. 1) You have more than 1 interest To be truthful, despite the fact that we will often pinpoint one job role that we prefer when asked the question, what would you want to be? or what...

Stagnancy vs. Growth

I have been trying to figure out the real meaning of these two terms without using a dictionary.  For me, 'Stagnancy' means being stuck and 'Growth' means seeing development in something or in some area of life. Both terms seem to be complete polar opposites but I am wondering if they can actually co-exist. Can one be in a stagnant situation and yet grow? And can one grow being stuck in one place? The possibility of co-existence of these two words is playing tricks on my mind but I really wish that it could be possible for the negative situation to not be dominant. Just like the common phrase 'Make lemonade out of lemons 🍋'  I wish that growth could come into place despite stagnation being at the forefront. I am [quite] a positive person and I truly wish stagnation did not exist. But sometimes life gives us the Impression that we are stuck. Situations like these might resonate with you: - when you can't progress past a certain job title  - you can't mov...

Birthday Blog: A review of my 30 and Beyond list

Image
This blog post is a review of the content discussed in the linked post. I would encourage you to read this post first for better context. **** This month of August is my birth month and this blog's anniversary. So I wanted to set aside some time to write my reflections of what I have encountered in the past year and what I intend to do with the lessons learned. I will refer to the 10 things I wrote about in this post and I will RAG rate how I feel I have done in the different areas. I have decided to add extra intentions to the list because it's a list to be accomplished beyond age 30 and so I will keep working on them. PS. RAG stands for Red, Amber and Green. Red for not accomplishing, amber for partially accomplishing and GREEN for accomplishing (#onpoint, #aceingit, #doingthedamnthing, #go-me!) Let's go! 1. Read - Red .  Even though I have always wanted to read to expand my knowledge and also to use my time wisely. This is still proving to be a challenge. I joined 2 boo...

Quiet times

Image
What to do with your quiet times? So I was sitting here shortly after logging out from work and I suddenly realised how quiet it was around me. TV off, windows virtually closed because the flies keep coming in to disturb my peace with their buzzing sound. The idea that came to me to break the silence was to turn on the TV or listen to some music. But I had the edge to do more than that. To do something useful with my time rather than drown out the quietness with some background noise or calling your friend to gossip. I remembered that I could visit the French lessons I had started 4 months ago, or practice some songs on my guitar so that I could do another lockdown jam session. You'll like that wouldn't you 😃?? ( surprise below ) Or read any of those books I started all the way from last year, two months ago and the book I ought to start reading for the Rich Dad Poor Dad book club (Sign up here ). Better still, it would be great to spend time with God and enjoy moments of devo...

Making careful decisions

Hello reader, I hope this finds you safe and well wherever you are reading this from. Today I decided to write something different and also quite difficult. Difficult because it is the kind of subject that you are likely to read a whole book about, so compressing those tons of information into a 3 minute blog post is a challenge. Here it goes. Have you ever sat down and thought about your life and certain decisions you have taken? I know you have. We all have. Whether decisions end up leading to a good or bad outcome, it affects our lives one way or another.  In a recent post about Facing my regrets I spoke about the decisions and choices I made over the years which I am not proud of because I veered off my dream. In most of those cases, the decision I made was essentially to give up and try something else. My life has worked out alright but that's because between then and now, I have been able to make some careful decisions and steps. Here are a few things to consider in making c...
