I am fundraising

Hi Dear Readers,

As much as I try to keep my personal activities (was about to say personal life! Hehe) away from this blog... I beg this one has to.

So I am fundraising over the next couple of months because I have been selected to take part in a UK government funded programme; International Citizen Service (ICS). ICS provides young people aged 18-25 and above the opportunity to volunteer overseas with a choice of 8 or so development agencies. UK volunteers will be matched with one of the NGOs (for short), where they will be assessed, selected and trained to work on development projects with volunteers from the countries they are selected for.

I have volunteered on this programme before with Tearfund, a Christian NGO. This year, I applied for a team leader role and was successful in securing a place with Restless Development.

Restless Development are an amazing youth-led, youth-focused NGO which aim to empower young people to use their voice to change their communities and nations. When young people are passionate about something, they draw attention to them and amplify their voices so that they can reach decision-makers, policy-makers in their communities and countries. I am mighty proud that I will be able to support these projects. As a team leader, I will be helping UK and national volunteers to set up projects, deliver them and encourage and support them to reach their personal goals. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me (I'll explain why in another post soon) to take on a huge role.

I aim to challenge myself, but above all, help other young people, enjoy three months of their lives working in communities, working cross-culturally, discovering themselves and challenging themselves to change their world.

So ...

I am fundraising because as part of my involvement in the programme, I must fundraise £800 which goes back into the ICS programme so that the UK government can continue to send other passionate youths like myself overseas to be change-agents.

So this week, I am living below the Poverty Line

So the challenge of this campaign is to spend £1 or less for my meals each day for 5 days. The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness of how the poor live on less than a pound a day. Maybe spending that pound/dollar not just for food but for other necessities, such as water, healthcare and other needs.

Individuals can sponsor me to start the campaign or donate after I complete each day of challenge

The Live Below the Line campaign challenges individuals across the world to eat and drink on £1 a day for 5 days. Participants use their experience to raise awareness of the lack of choice faced by 1.2 billion people who currently live below the extreme poverty line, and raise vital funds to combat it. - See more at: https://www.livebelowtheline.com/uk/thankyou#sthash.odGreZBp.dpuf

Please donate via this link

Thank you so much for reading and Hopefully for your donations😀

Till next time,

Claudy xoxo
